News reported that the popular messaging and voice calling app Viber has been purchased by Rakuten, a Japanese company that owns the website Play.com.Purchased for the sum of $900 Million USD, Rakuten said that the pruchase will help expand their focus on digital content, also adding that Viber users can also directly contact their online retailers before making a purchase.With about 200 million users, Viber was initially launched for the iPhone in 2010 as a direct competition to Skype.
